Alpha Delta, Tau Beta Sigma

A Service Project at a Pre-Rush?!

Greetings, Brothers and Sisters of the North Central District!

On Thursday, January 14, the Alpha Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma at Ohio University held an informal pre-rush involving ice breakers. Instead of everyone introducing themselves with their name, major, and instrument, our Vice President of Membership, Mary Cuff, had us choose a letter of the alphabet. With this letter, we had to associate words that begin with that letter in order to describe our personalities, likes, hobbies, so on and so forth. Of course, the lists from a lot of us became rather long and quite hilarious.

After the ice breakers, we had a question and answer session about our organization. A few of us told stories of our favorite memories with sisters and brothers, we discussed why we joined this organization, and a couple of our attendees asked questions about what we do: service to the bands. To my excitement, Brittany DeRyke, our Corresponding Secretary, and Mary Cuff surprised us with a service project. Jointly with our brothers, the Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, Dr. Richard Suk, Director of the Marching 110, asked us to fill-out thank you cards to those who helped send the Marching 110 to the Tournament of Roses Parade this past New Year’s Day. Towards the end of our pre-rush, all of us, active and potential members alike, filled-out these cards. It was a wonder to have our guests see and do what it is that our chapter, Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Kappa Psi, and the North Central District do best in action: serve our bands.

In my opinion, there is no better combination than service and sisterhood.

We look forward to seeing those who were able and unable to attend our informal pre-rush at our Formal Rush on Monday, January 18!
