Alpha Delta, Kappa Kappa Psi

A warm hello from your Brothers of Alpha Delta!

Recently, we have completed a 5k with the help of our Sisters of the Alpha Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma for the Ohio University Marching 110’s trip to Pasadena, California for the 2010 Rose Parade. The 5k was called Run/Walk for the Roses and we raised enough funds to help send one 110 member to the Rose Parade.

We held a 5k t-shirt design competition and one of our Sisters won the design competition. Every runner/walker who registered for the race received a shirt with the winning design, water, and post-race refreshments. A raffle table was also set up with prizes collectively totaled to be valued at over $150 dollars. Our sponsors included area businesses such as Copy Catz, Precision Imprint, College Bookstore, The Pizza Alternative, Blue Eagle Music, UniversiTees, Liz Maule Reality, Ambassador Laundry, Rollerbowl, Bagel Street Deli, and Sears of Athens. We were able to attract local and other area runners/walkers to our 5k through successful advertising.

Our 5k began early planning in May of 2009. It was our first annual 5k and its main purpose was to help lessen the cost of the Ohio University Marching 110’s Rose Parade trip so band members could afford the trip. The idea of the fundraiser was actually tossed around for awhile by one of our Brothers and our Vice President of Projects until we got the approval from our Chapter’s Sponsor. We wanted to generate a great profit without creating a large budget to help the Ohio University Marching 110 members to afford the cost of travel to the Rose Parade. A great majority of our Chapter as well as our Sister’s of Tau Beta Sigma worked on getting the project done, especially during the last couple weeks prior to the event to help get campus advertising and walkers/runners registered for the event.

This was our first annual 5k for Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and we hope to improve and maintain the standard of excellence we executed our project with in years to come in order to create a permanent yearly project.
