The Kadenza

The Beta Kappa chapter is underway and running smoothly here in Bowling Green, OH. We are excited to welcome a membership class of 22! Although these numbers may seem high to some chapters, we had over 37 people attend our informational smokers. This year we were very selective when choosing who we gave bids too. One thing that helped our chapter evaluated prospective members was looking at our 5 points. We took the 5 points and translated them into small buzz words. Then when talking about prospective members these words should describe their personality and abilities in rehearsals and outside of rehearsals. I have our Vice President of Membership Colin Studer to thank for this. Our MC Class is currently working hard to complete their service project and fundraiser. We are excited to seem them progress through the process in hopes of become stand out brothers. We will be welcoming our MC class into our brotherhood concluding our third degree on January 27, 2010.

Beta Kappa was happy to see other chapters from the district at Leadership Conference at Kent State a few weekends ago. We had a 7 brothers attend the worship, including 3 of our 6 officers. Our chapter was able to use the information about Core Values in our meeting recently. We had a small 10 minute session where brothers broke up into small groups and then came up with a list of the Core Values of Beta Kappa. We then compiled the best from these lists onto the board. We plan to discuss and define a few of these core values and in an upcoming meeting. The discussion process helped get brothers thinking about the core values so when we attempt to decide on a few in an upcoming meeting it won’t be new information to them.

Beta Kappa hopes everything is going well with the rest of the district and hopes to see fellow brothers at various district events.
